If I was a life long learner
Our collaborative effort is complete. If you are not familiar with the original song you can view it via YouTube.
And with our sincere apologies to the Barenaked Ladies here is the JJL version:
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I'd write on my blog (I'd write on my blog)
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I'd buy a real new computer (maybe a nice Apple or an HP)
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I'd learn to use del.icio.us (a big fancy link-sharing machine )
If I was a life long learner, I'd link to you
If I was a life long learner
I'd join a group of joyful learners
If I was a life long learner
You could help, it wouldn't be that hard
If I was a life long learner
Maybe we could collaborate on a song
Wouldn't that be wonderful!
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I'd send you an email (but not a spam email, that's cruel)
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I'd invite you to the group (like LinkedIn or FaceBook)
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I'd record a podcast (maybe a video someday)
If I was a life long learner I'd link to you
If I was a life long learner
We wouldn't have to walk to the library
If I was a life long learner
We'd ask the group a question something we didn't know
If I was a life long learner We wouldn't have to go without knowing
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I'd live without watching TV (especially a reality show, that's cruel)
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I'd leap to help someone in need (like a good Samaritan)
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I'd laugh with you at good jokes (maybe tell one myself)
If I was a life long learner I'd love to link to you.
If I was a life long learner
We would take our bikes to the library
If I was a life long learner
We'd come back with good books to read
If I was a life long learner We wouldn't have to go without knowing
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
Well I’d ask a question or two (yes – lots of questions)
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I’d listen real close for a peep back or two (yes – more voices please!)
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
Well I’d learn stuff from all your answers (and learn to keep listening too :)
If I was a life long learner, I’d LISTEN to you!
And we’d Make A Difference for each other
If I was a life long learner
I'd join a group of joyful learners (yeah, bring on the joy!)
If I was a life long learner
You could help, it wouldn't be that hard (just another question, peep or two)
If I was a life long learner
Maybe we could collaborate on more questions and dialogue… (more podcasts?)
Wouldn't that be fabulous!
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I'd share good leadership secrets with you (but not bad leadership that's cruel)
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I'd make connections for you (to Tom Peters or to Chris Brogan)
If I was a life long learner (If I was a life long learner)
I'd make you a Technorati favorite (haven't you always wanted to be a favorite?)
If I was a life long learner If I was a life long learner If I was a life long learner
If I was a life long learner I'd be RICH!

My thanks to all the collaborators, in spirit as well as those in fact.
While this is now published, this is not the end. You can continue to create additional lyrics or verses for this. The "live" version that BNL perform tends to take special twists and turns due to where they are playing. That is one of the glorious of a live performance. Go for it! Make a difference!
The preview to this collaboration can be found here (text) and here (audio).

Steve Sherlock writes his 2 cent views on life from Franklin, MA. He explores the "good experience", "life long learning" and life in general, after handling the "before you blog" list his wonderful wife Dolores provides him. Together they are enjoying the empty nest while their daughters are away at college. And yes, his brain has been stuck on music for a long time.

I promise I will never sing that song back to you, but I *love* it. Great ideas here!

Hi Steve, I so enjoyed listening to "If I Had a Million Dollars." The songwriter sees it as I do the person who receives it could give so much away. It just reminds me of how we can be generous to others as we blog.
Thanks for your neat poem.

Bikes to the library Steve? For this group of lifelong learners I think we'd need a pick up truck or semi!
This was such a neat idea Steve, thank you for the music :)

Chris, I am glad you like. It was fun doing with the group.
Robyn, you are most welcome. I can't take all the credit. there were a bunch of collaborators on this.
Rosa, I kind of prefer the bike idea. Healthy for one. Then we could all get dressed to move like the pack (or peloton) in the Tour de France! A better formation for honking!
