What book have you read lately? Review it for us in March!

Dear Readers of the Joyful Jubilant Learning Ho‘ohana Community,

Get involved this March, and review a book for us!

Drop me in any retail complex to kill some time, and no matter what my mood or my need, guess what will be the first directory listing I’ll scout for, to plan that window of opportunity ahead of me? That’s right, a bookstore.

Here’s the rub though: Step inside, and in which aisle do I start? Ah, so you can identify with me on this, hmm? It’s this strange catch-22: The more voracious a reader you are, the longer you can stand just inside the entrance wondering which way to turn. To just blunder ahead like a bull in a china shop, is almost irreverent.

Or maybe this is your scenario: You do know exactly where to start, but then… No mystery here… you find you have collected this stack that will cost you two or three times as much as what you can pay for. How do you choose?

Well, guess what? Joyful Jubilant Learning has single-handedly solved this dilemma for me with our annual Love Affair with Books, and it can do the same for you! Drop me in a bookstore now, and I have a whole list of recommendations from people who read to learn. In fact it goes beyond that; they read to thrive. I now know exactly which books I’m looking for.

Our annual Love Affair with Books is THE time to get enough reading recommendations for another year through. Having traced it on their calendar for every March, or reading here that it was coming, we already have twenty-five authors signed up to review a book they have loved —not liked, not thought was interesting, LOVED.

Guess what else? We have lots more room on these pages, and they could have YOUR name on them! What book have you read lately and loved? Will you review it for us, and share your recommendation with the rest of the JJL community too?

Please say yes! We have a lofty, but achievable goal!

Last year we presented 35 book reviews counting our Trackback Sunday Reviews: This year our goal is to double that with your involvement —will you help us get two books reviewed a day, giving readers at least 70 new choices?

Here is a bit more incentive for you:

Save yourself that next trip to the bookstore...

This year, all participating book reviewers will be entered in a drawing and contest for the audio book of their choice from www.audible.com: We have 5 books to award, and will increase that number to 10 should we make our goal.

That’s just icing on the cake though, isn’t it. Review that book you LOVE in the spirit of aloha and lokomaika‘i —generosity shared in learning with your JJL Ho‘ohana Community. Stretch out your personal bliss within A Love Affair with Books —yours.

Here is what you do:

  1. We keep it to one reviewer per book, so check this page to see if the book you would like to share has been claimed yet. Our only rules:
    1. We are hoping to hear from independent reviewers, i.e. authors cannot review their own book. (This will help authors learn too!)
    2. With aloha and respect to the book authors, reviewers cannot post anonymously.
    3. We are looking for books you LOVE and highly recommend, and not for reviews of books you caution people to steer clear of.
  2. Sign up via email to our community mailbox. Please include the Book Title, and the author's name so we can reserve your title in your name right away. If you have it readily available, it would be very helpful if you could add the ISBN number at the back of the book too (not necessary though).
  3. Remember; you will be posting your review here on Joyful Jubilant Learning.com! When you email us, be sure you use the email address you want us to send your Guest Author invitation to (Note: your email address is for our internal planning and coordination with you, and will not be visible on the blog when your review is published). If you prefer we do the publishing for you, we are happy to do so; you can simply submit your review for us in the body of your email.

We'll write back to you with the date you have been assigned for your review; your draft must be completed 48 hours in advance of that date, for a 1:00am Pacific posting time.

Postscript: We are always eager to welcome Guest Authors to Joyful Jubilant Learning! More guideline info such as publishing rights etc. can be found on our FAQ page.

Alawb_08_button Mahalo for participating!

We are standing by, waiting to hear from you!

Our countdown to A Love Affair with Books officially starts...right...NOW!
