Learning from Fire, Learning from Pictures
Look into the fire.
Count to 10.
Slowly.
What do you see when you look into the fire?
Hope
Peace
Love
Serenity
Today
Tomorrow
What can you learn from a picture?
Focus
Strength
Compassion
Patience
Understanding
Can a picture really say 1000 words?
Do you really need 1000 words to say it?
Or just 1?

Phil, I love candlelight and open fires and flickering flames. There is just something about the light, and the intensity of colour, isn't there?
You've asked some very powerful questions! I'm off to light a candle... and count to 10. Slowly.
Thank you.

Karen - I love the light and the intensity light can bring. I hope these questions make for some intense weekend reflection.

Thanks Phil. I see stillness and a deep sense of calm. Interesting that the image of the flame has a similar effect to looking at the flame itself.
You've made me think about different ways we look: at the surface, for information, for inspiration, or at something that draws us in, further and further, till we're not sure what it is we're truly looking at.

When I first looked at this photo I thought about church Phil, not sure why... I think it may be the candle more than the flame, for if it was a Christmas candle I'd think of something else, and yet altogether differently if it was a beach bonfire or campfire!

Joanna - Glad I've helped you think about things in a more deep way. It's easy to look at things one way, but more fun and interesting to look at them in multiple ways and see what we really see.
Steve and David - Thanks for your comments and support.
Rosa - It could be the calmness of the candle, or maybe church is the first time that candle light transfixed you. I know for me the candle's white light could make me think of Advent or of the calmness that came with going to church with my grandmothers.
